The challenge here was to create three movie posters with the same title, but different genres. Ideally, through the taglines and moods created by the imagery provided, the viewer should be able to infer what the plot of these movies will be.

The movie title I chose was "The Door to Baldargo."

This title lends itself quite easily to a suspense or horror film as I have shown in the first two mock ups, but in order to challenge myself I created a romantic film poster using this title.

Enjoy!
The documentary of crooked city councilman Alvaro Perez has a California-inspired warm color palette and uses the imagery of a suited man with a briefcase builds the tone of political intrigue. The tagline is based on a three act story structure about the rise, plateau, and fall of the protagonist's career. It is dramatic and gritty.
This horror themed poster uses a mystical purple color palette and smoky imagery to create the ominous mood of the piece. The dilapidated house and old-fashioned typewriter typeface indicate a historical terror. The tagline is classic isolation horror, and is in neither third or second person in order to draw the viewer into an empathic terror with the protagonist of the film.
This summer romance film poster is bright and warm and uses a typeface with a very small stroke width to give an air or wonder and whimsy. There is a lot of negative space to play with that symbolizes the distance keeping the young lovers in the story apart. The action of the couple in the image creates a visual suspense because they appear to be on the precipice of a kiss. This tension is very appealing to viewers. Finally the tagline sets the tone for the drama that would otherwise be absent from this otherwise flighty romantic piece.
